Practice starts Monday, June 20th, and the meet schedule has been published! Now, for the season to be successful we need to discuss volunteering duties for our meets. In order to run a swim meet we need many parent volunteers. We ask that each family tries to volunteer a minimum of two times if their child participates on the swim team. Click here to volunteer!
Coach Craig will have an informational meeting to discuss all the important information regarding practices and meets and also the volunteer opportunities for all swim parents/care givers. But for now, here are the jobs we will need help with-
Timers – Great way to get a front row seat to the races and help too! You really get to know the sport and the players. It is an easy job and you are welcome to split a shift with a friend.
Runner – You collect the score sheets from each lane after each race and take them to the scoring table, which is found under the tent set up by the diving well.
Ribbon Writers – The ribbon tags are actually printed on stickers, so it is really just putting the stickers on the appropriate ribbons. Starting half way into the meet, this job is done under the tent that is set up near the diving well.
Meet Manager & Assistant – The meet manager enters all of the times from each race into the computer while the meet is happening. He/she sits under the blue tent near the dive well, and reads the times to her as he/she types.
Continuing this week, our courts are being redone! We are looking forward to seeing the new colors! For all those interested in playing for A team or B team, there will be a meet and greet with Coach Dave on Friday, June 24th from 4-5pm. Bring your racquets and be ready to hit the ball around.
We have partnered with SwimOutlet.com for our 2022 Swim & Tennis team gear. Gear is not required to participate on the teams or during team events, but it is a fun way to support the club. Purchases can be made: https://www.swimoutlet.com/russellmill/ and prices vary based on swim outlet deals.
The Social Committee and Coach Dave met last week to discuss some fun ways to engage our adult community. We are happy to announce Coffee and Tennis starting on June 29th and continuing every Wednesday morning from 7-8 am. Come pick up a game and get to know other members who share a love of tennis.
Interested in getting out on a weeknight to play around on the courts followed by some social time with some old and some NEW friends? All ability levels welcome! Starting June 30th and continuing every Thursday evening from 7-9:30pm we will have an adult social night. Coach Dave will be available to teach the game (tennis and/or pickleball) to those who are new to the sport while our more experienced members pick up some matches. Afterwards, we will have a BYOB and BYOsnacks on our deck!
Lastly, Coach Dave is hosting Adult Fitness classes on Friday, July 8th. Cardio Tennis will run from 8-9am and Pickleball How-To will run from 9-10am. Depending on participation and interest, Coach Dave will continue this for the summer.
Preseason Hours – Mon-Wed- 3:00pm -6:00pm, Thursday -3:00pm – 8:00pm, Friday 12:00-8:00 pm Saturday & Sunday 11:00am – 6:00pm.
Entering and Exiting the Club – This cannot be stressed enough. The driveway closest to the clubhouse is the entrance. The driveway closest to the dumpster is the exit. Please inform your guests of this before their arrival.
Check-In Location – upon entering the club your family needs to check in with the greeter. If you have guests there is a $10 per guest fee. You can purchase the pass ahead of time online https://russellmill.com/product/guest-pass-online/. Please be prepared to provide the greeter with the names of the members checking in daily.
Glass – Glass is not allowed on the pool deck. We have plastic cups in the office if you forget yours. Broken glass that gets in the pool is a serious situation that at minimum results in closure of the pool for multiple hours to ensure proper removal.
Trash – Please help us keep the club clean. Please take a moment to scan your tables, under your chairs etc. for trash before you leave.
